Trick-or-treating is usually the favorite part of Halloween for children. Sure, getting to dress up as a superhero, princess, goblin or other character is fun, but almost everyone loves getting free candy. Keep reading to learn how to have fun trick-or-treating and stay safe at the same time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Friends
  • Flashlight
Step1
Go trick-or-treating with a group of friends. Compare the candy you have collected and look at all the great Halloween decorations. Visit the houses of people that you know. They are likely to give you more candy than other people might.
Step2
Ride in the back of a hatch-back car, the bed of a truck or in a trailer. You should only do this if you are in a residential area, in a vehicle that is driving five miles per hour or less and accompanied by adults. Catching a ride between houses minimizes the distance you have to walk, which means you'll have the energy to trick-or-treat longer.
Step3
Find businesses that offer treats, such as banks, automobile dealers, grocery stores and churches. You can usually hear about these by word of mouth, flyers on business windows and newspapers.
Step4
Practice safe trick-or-treating habits. Remember to use flashlights so that you can see where you're going and to improve the likelihood that cars will see you too. Practice wearing and walking in your costume before trick-or-treating so that you won't trip in it. Also, ask your parents to sort though your candies when you get home so they can remove any unsafe candy or treats before you eat it.
