Instructions

    • 1

Use scissors to trim the tape into shapes like flowers, stars, peace signs or hearts. Adhere the images to the backpack as a bold design or stick two identical shapes back to back and punch a hole in the top to create faux metal charms. Attach them with bead chain as fun and functional zipper pulls.

    • 2

Cut narrow strips of duct tape to add cool stripes to the straps and sides. (You can also use the tape to cover the straps completely, but its stiffness may reduce their cushiness.)

    • 3

Wrap the bottom of the backpack to reinforce the surface, then use paint or paint pens to doodle, ask for friend's signatures or write lines from favorite movies, song lyrics or catch phrases.

    • 4

Make quick photo frames. Position a photo of your friends, family pet, favorite band or celebrity somewhere on the backpack, then use duct tape to surround and adhere it.

    • 5

Buy colored or camouflage print duct tape as a departure from the typical silver. Trim and adhere it to the backpack to create cool patterns. Cut it into tags, add designs with markers and dangle them from the top handle. (See Resources)
