How to Get Over Being Put Down

When someone puts you down, they're most likely trying to either feel better about themselves or make you think you're inferior to them. Don't let them get to you. You need to rise above them and think highly of yourself. Remember that they're only doing this to make you feel bad; if you do feel bad, then they win.

Instructions

    • 1

Confront the person that's putting you down and tell him how you feel. Stand up for yourself and ask him why he needs to be so negative and make you feel bad. Let him know he's hurting your feelings and you don't like it.

    • 2

Seek advice from someone you trust. Chances are they'll give you a few tips from their personal experience.

    • 3

Ignore her comments. It's easy to say that and harder to do it. Once you put the comments out of your head, though, you can more easily see that this is her problem, not yours.

    • 4

Remain positive in the face of his negativity. Fill his world with positive things and it could possibly change his attitude. It's not a guarantee but is worth a try.

    • 5

Remember to like yourself. To get over others putting you down, you need to be proud of yourself. Know that you don't deserve to be treated and spoken to in ways that put you down.
