Instructions

  1. For Noise Protection

    • 1

Take a cotton ball and pinch off enough to fit in your ear. Try fitting it into your ear and remove or add some cotton until it fits comfortably.

    • 2

Cut a small piece of plastic wrap and wrap it around the piece of cotton. Wrap it securely, but not too tight.

    • 3

Twist the plastic wrap at the end of the piece of cotton to form a tail at the back of the ear plug.

    • 4

Wrap a rubber band around the tail until it is tight.

    • 5

Trim the plastic at the tail if you have a lot remaining.

    • 6

Repeat the process for the other ear.

    For Swimmers

    • 7

Coat a cotton ball in petroleum jelly.

    • 8

Pinch off enough cotton from the cotton ball to fit in your ear. Start off with a larger piece and try fitting it into your ear.

    • 9

Remove small pieces of cotton until the ear plug fits comfortably.

    • 10

Add more jelly if you need to.

    • 11

Repeat the process for the other ear.

Tips & Warnings

  • The petroleum jelly ear plug protects the ear from moisture, but should not be relied upon to protect the ear for long periods of time.

  • Never push an ear plug far into your ear. This could make the ear plug difficult to remove or push ear wax deep into the ear causing blockage. Just place the ear plug gently inside the ear canal.
