A skatepark is a place to enjoy skateboarding and practice your moves. Going to the skatepark for the first time can be a humbling experience. It's something that every skater has been through, and you can overcome it too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remember that every skater had a first time at the skatepark. Even advanced skaters started as beginners.

  2. Step 2

Pick a time when the skatepark will be fairly empty. You will feel less embarrassed if there are only a few other people at the skatepark.

  3. Step 3

Dress like a skater. This will help you to fit in better. You will also be able to skate better if you are comfortable.

  4. Step 4

Warm up at home. You are more likely to make mistakes when you are warming up so this will lessen the mistakes you make at the skatepark.

  5. Step 5

Bring a few friends for support. These friends can either watch you or skate with you. If they skate with you, make sure that their skill level is about the same as your skill level.

  6. Step 6

Start slow. Get a feel for the ramps and other equipment. Start by doing basic skateboarding moves then move on to more advanced tricks and moves once you feel comfortable with the skatepark.

  7. Step 7

Laugh off your mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes especially when they are learning a new skill or performing in a new place.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you go to the skatepark for the first time, use a skateboard that you have used before. Skateboards feel and perform differently so using a skateboard that you are familiar with will help you to skateboard better.
  • Never skateboard without wearing proper safety equipment.
