Instructions

    • 1

Accept that you cannot control everything in life. The loss of your mother is not your fault. Grieve about your loss when the need arises; this is a healthy part of the process. However, try not to let your feelings consume every aspect of your life.

Take time to be sad about your situation when you need to. Write in a journal or diary if it helps. Some people find that it helps to write a letter to their mom and send it to her in a symbolic way. Sending it out into the ocean in a bottle, burning it or praying over it are some examples.

    • 3

Find someone that you can talk to outside of your family, such as a teacher or school counselor. If you feel that talking with a grief counselor might help you, ask your Dad about it. These people can help you work through your feelings of grief and anger.

Be someone that your mother would be proud of. Get good grades in school, try to have fun with friends and take up a good hobby. Your Mom wouldn't want you to spend your life being sad all the time.

    • 5

Honor your mother in any way you can. If she passes because of a disease, raise some money for research in her honor, for example. Create a purpose for your life and live the best life you can, because you know your mother would only want the best for you.
