Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Shop smarter. If you don't want your child to wear something, don't buy it. This limits your child's access to clothes you don't approve of.
Step2
Offer choices. You want to control what your kid wears but you don't want to be a dictator. Give your child appropriate choices so the two of you can come to a compromise. If your child has her eyes set on a ridiculously small micro-mini, present her with a comparable option. Find the same print or pattern in a skirt of a more appropriate length.
Step3
Decide the child's outfit the night before. Ask your child to layout the clothes she wants to wear before she goes to sleep. Make it part of her nightly routine. Approve or disapprove of her choice before lights go out. This alleviates any undue stress in the morning.
Step4
Be consistent in allowing and disallowing certain pieces of clothing. If you don't want your child to wear overly baggy pants, don't allow him to do it on the weekends. This lets him know you are serious and unwilling to bend when it comes to clothing standards.
Step5
Check her backpack. If you suspect that your kid is sneaking inappropriate clothing out of the house, examine her backpack. Make sure you aren't being naive. It is your right to know what is really going on.
