Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nail polish remover
  • Nail trimmer
  • Nail file
  • Cuticle stick
  • Nail polish
  1. Step 1

Remove your nail polish. Before starting your own manicure, take a cotton ball and nail polish remover to get rid of your old polish.

  2. Step 2

Cut your nails to the length you desire with a nail trimmer. Check the length of the fingernails on both hands to make sure that they're the same.

  3. Step 3

Take a nail file and smooth down the cut nails. Use the nail file to get the nail shape you want.

  4. Step 4

Soak your hands in warm water for about 5 minutes. This loosens the skin around your cuticles. After your hands are softened, you can take a cuticle stick and push back the cuticles.

  5. Step 5

Moisturize your hands and nails. Rub a generous amount of hand cream on your nails and hands. This further softens the skin and also soothes any discomfort you may feel after using the cuticle stick.

  6. Step 6

Wash and dry your hands. Before you apply the new polish, you should wash your hands with a moisturizing soap. Use a clean towel to dry your hands thoroughly.

  7. Step 7

Apply your new nail polish color. Take your time and let each coat dry before applying a new one. Put on two coats of the color and then a clear top coat.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can cut your cuticles, but this may cause more discomfort than using a cuticle stick to push them back.
