At one point or another, your parents won't like one or more of your friends. They may fear that the person is a bad influence and will get you into trouble. If this happens, you need to find ways to convince your parents that your friends are decent.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Introduce them to each other. If they spend time in each other's company, then your parents less likely to dislike your friends. Your parents can see what your friends are like and make a better judgment about them.

  2. Step 2

Keep your parents out of any disagreements you have with your friends. If you get into a fight with your friend and tell your parents about it, your parents may still dislike her even after you make up.

  3. Step 3

Point out their good qualities. If they volunteer or hold down a couple of jobs, then make sure that your parents know about it. Let your parents know about any positive influence your friends have in your life.

  4. Step 4

Remind your friends to behave politely and mind their manners while in your parent's company. They should not curse or tell dirty jokes.

  5. Step 5

Give your parents time. They may not like a friend at first, but their opinion may change over time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't always blame your friends if you get caught doing something wrong. This only makes your parents think the worst about your friends.
  • Don't put yourself in the middle if your parents and friends don't like each other. You may just have to keep your friends and family life separate.
