You may have to deal with drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Then, there are the drivers who are speeding and/or talking on the phone. These drivers are dangerous and could cause an accident. Just learning some basic defensive driving techniques could save someone's life.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go extra slowly where children are playing. If street signs are posted to warn you of children or you see some children around, don't race down the road. Children are unpredictable and can run out in front of you suddenly, so give yourself time to stop.

  2. Step 2

Stick with the speed limit. Crazy drivers flying down a busy road could cause an accident at any time. Speeding increases the odds dramatically, so slow down and drive tactically.

  3. Step 3

Keep your hands off the horn when you're in a traffic jam. This will only upset the person in front of you. Road rage is dangerous and far from driving tactically, people end up hurt from this behavior.

  4. Step 4

Stay far enough away from the person in front of you and keep off his bumper. You must give yourself time to stop in case he slams on his brakes

  5. Step 5

Avoid giving someone rude hand gestures on the road. It doesn't benefit anyone and can put you in a dangerous situation, if you gesture to the wrong person.

  6. Step 6

Leave your high beams on only when necessary, such as in poor weather conditions. Otherwise, be considerate of the oncoming driver. High beams are blinding and could cause a crash.

  7. Step 7

Look both ways before pulling out into an intersection. You may have the green light, but that doesn't mean that the other drivers are always going to stop on red.
