A manufacturer logo and contact information are located in the Windows system properties. You can typically find these under the Windows XP logo. In a few simple steps, you can replace the current logo with your own custom logo for your business.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Right-click on the "My Computer" icon located on your desktop. Select "Properties" to see the current logo.
Step2
Create your custom logo by using a graphic composer software like Windows Paint or Adobe Photoshop. Use the same shade of gray used in the Properties dialog box for the background of your logo: RRB: 192, 192, 192. The ideal size for your logo is 180 wide by 120 pixels high. Save your new logo as a .bmp graphic file.
Step3
Copy the new image file to "c:\windows\system32" and rename the new graphic file "oemlogo.bmp."
Step4
Make a new text file with Notepad for your contact information. Save it as "oeminfo.ini" to "c:\windows\systems32."
Step5
Enter your contact information as follows. General: Manufacturer=manufacturer or company name, Model=type your name here. Support Information: Line1=any information you would like to show up, Line 2=support Information, Line 3="", Line 4, "asdfjkl," Line5=company name, Lines 6 and 7=address, Line 8=phone number"
Line 9=fax number, Line10="", Line11="" and Line12="http://www.your-web-address.com"
Step6
Save the contact information again. Your new custom logo and contact information should now show up in the Properties dialog box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Find your system32 folder by going to "Start" and then "Run." Type "cmd" and click ok. In the dos command prompt type "set system." Look for the line that has "SystemRoot" to locate your system directory.

I have found that this information is not 100% accurate.
HP for one store their logo in c:/hp/images I believe it was. My question is where can I go to see the programming and where it is pulling the logo from. I have been able to scan the pc to find the logo then replace it just fine, but if you directions do not work and there is no logo to scan for how can I find where the image is being pulled from?
Thank you.
