How to Get 99 Mining in RuneScape

Reaching Level 99 in mining is as time-consuming as reaching other Runescape levels. You can speed up the process as much as possible in places like Lumbridge, Varrock and Al Kharid.

Instructions

    • 1

Equip yourself with a bronze pickaxe. Bob's axe shop in Lumbridge will have one for 1 gp, and you will be very close to a good place to mine.

    • 2

Head for a place to mine copper and tin. There is a small mining area south of Bob's shop, but you can also go to the Southeast Varrock mine.

    • 3

"Powermine" tin and copper by mining all you can carry and then dropping it all (right click on your mined ore to find this option). Continue until you reach level 15.

    • 4

Start powermining iron once you reach level 15. If your combat level is less than 29, stay in Varrock. Otherwise, head for Al Kharid and mine the two iron ores near the entrance.

    • 5

Store the iron ores in your bank so you can sell them at the Varrock Grand Exchange. You need the gold to eventually get a Rune pickaxe.

    • 6

Buy a Rune pickaxe when you reach Level 41 and have at least 20,000 gold pieces. The Grand Exchange will have the best deal for you.

    • 7

Powermine the three iron ores near the top of the mine until you reach level 99. Be advised there will probably be a lot of other experienced miners competing with you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Beware of monsters attacking while mining. Rock golems and evil chickens will be too strong for you, but scorpions won't hurt you if your combat level is at least 29.

  • Avoid hitting rocks that emit gas as they will break your pickaxe. If this happens, you will need to get it fixed at Nurmof's pickaxe shop at the Dwarven mine.
