Mario Kart for the DS is a fun game based on the old Mario game characters. This game allows you to use the old Mario Kart courses from the other games such as Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Double Dash.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Connect to other players. One of the great things about the DS system is the Internet, allowing you play other gamers around the world.
Step2
Unlock different karts. You can do this by getting gold trophies on all cups on the Retro Grand Prix at 100CC, the Retro Grand Prix at 150CC and the Nitro Grand Prix. Different karts give you different advantages and are just cool to look at.
Step3
Try to unlock locked levels. To unlock a mirror mode, get a gold trophy on all cups on the Retro Grand Prix. You can also get a star on every mission to unlock mission mode 7.
Step4
Drift or power slide around the turns. Hold R and press left/right/left/right until you notice red flames behind you. This'll give you a little boost around the turns. Just be careful not to skid out around the turns or you'll lose time.
Step5
Use your weapons to hinder your opponents. With the Mario Kart DS game, you still have the banana peels, lightning strikes and stars you can use, but you also have additional weapons including a bob-omb or a blooper (a squid that squirts ink all over the screen).
Step6
Do the missions. There are various things you need to do in the game to pass a mission. Objectives include passing through numbered gates in a specific order and time or driving around tracks backwards. The missions get progressively harder.
