In the 1980s, a club in Chicago called the Warehouse and one in New York called Paradise Garage played House music, a spin-off from disco of the 1970s. A reference to the names of the clubs playing the music, House eventually evolved into the more modern Hard House music of today with steady, hard drum beats mixed with synthesizers and occasional lyrics.
