The Amgen Tour of California is a professional bicycle race held in February each year. The multi-day tour route runs through 650 miles of California wine country, giant redwoods and along the Pacific Coast. Through a partnership with the organization, "Breakaway From Cancer," the tour also supports worthy causes. There are many ways non-cyclists can help support the Amgen Tour of California.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Volunteer with the Amgen tour. You can be a course marshal, hand out water and snacks to cyclists, direct visitors where to go and much more. Visit the official Amgen website to sign up (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

Purchase Amgen tour merchandise. In addition to official commemorative leader jerseys, you can buy t-shirts, fleece, hats, children's items and DVDs of the race. Purchase items onsite at race booths or visit the official Amgen merchandise website (see Resources).

  3. Step 3

Patronize sponsors of the Amgen tour. Each year various organizations such as banks, restaurants, transportation companies and bicycle companies provide financial support for the event. By purchasing items from these sponsors, you add to their profits and revenues, which enables them to continue to sponsor the Amgen tour.

  4. Step 4

Sponsor the Amgen tour. If you own a business or are a financial decision maker in your company, encourage those in senior management or positions of authority to consider becoming an Amgen sponsor.

  5. Step 5

Become a HealthNet Lifestyle Festival partner. At the finish line of each city, cycling enthusiasts experience a festival that includes the following types of booths: health and fitness, cancer awareness, cycling information, bicycle safety, family fun, food and entertainment. If your company wishes to sponsor a booth, this contributes to the Amgen tour's financial bottom line and philanthropic missions.
