Step 1
Become a course marshal to ensure participant and spectator safety. Marshals ensure that the course is free from dangerous obstructions, pedestrians, vehicles and other objects that may interfere with the race.
-
Step 2
Enter festival attendees into the Amgen Tour Sweepstakes to gather crucial demographic data. Sweepstakes/economic impact surveyors assist the survey and sweepstakes coordinator to identify customers' key characteristics and the tour's economic impact on host cities to ensure the event's future success.
-
Step 3
Don an official security t-shirt while keeping the peace. Volunteers assist paid security staff through controlling access to the race course, hospitality tent, green room, press conference and awards ceremony.
-
Step 4
Work behind the scenes to set-up and break-down banners or to assist with preparation for and facilitation of the lifestyle festival EXPO. These positions generally require a two hour commitment, either in the morning before Amgen events begin or in the afternoon when they wrap up.
-
Step 5
Work with members of the media either in tour start or finish cities. Volunteers on the tour's front-end help with media check-in and credential distribution. Those stationed at the end of the line help with media office set-up, distribute media credentials, field questions and run necessary errands.
-
Step 6
Assist the Amgen Tour volunteer coordinator with proper registration and placement of volunteers before the festival begins or work with medical control after the race to escort athletes to the medical tent before and after post-event physicals.
-
Step 7
Fill out the online sign-up form on the Agmen Tour of California website and attend scheduled orientation. Tour officials match volunteers with their volunteer position preferences as closely as possible.
