If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have to use force to clear a building, a firearm is a necessary tool to accomplish the task. In general, clearing a whole building can be a large task, but having the right squad and firearm will make it easier. With the right training, squad and firearm, here's how to clear a building.

1. Choose an appropriate firearm. Depending on the building, the appropriate weapon, such as a handgun or automatic weapon, will help. The situation may involve multiple targets, so the weapon must be able to handle multiple rounds.
2. Choose a course of action. The plan must take into account the number of people, entrances, targets and the physical features of the area. Use these features to work to your advantage.
3. Put your plan into action. Move as swiftly and as quietly as possible. Be sure to use the right techniques around corners and doorways. The wrong techniques may result in injury or death to you and/or your squad. Be extremely cautious when you enter and exit rooms. Check everything. Leave nothing unchecked.
4. Find your target and eliminate it. Once you have found and identified the target, approach cautiously until you are in range to capture or disable it. Then, use your judgment about whether to remove the target or wait for local police to arrive.

• Be sure to get as much information on the situation as possible. The more information you know, the better you can calculate and formulate an effective plan.
• Make sure you and your squads are familiar with the techniques necessary to handle such a situation. An unskilled squad is tantamount to group suicide.
• Always check to see if there are hostages and modify the procedure accordingly.
