PowerPoint is a presentation tool, but you can use the program for more than creating slide shows. For example, you can also create screensavers from PowerPoint files. There are several computer programs you can use to do this, but it's also quite easy to create a custom screensaver on your own.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the PowerPoint Presentation you want to make into a screensaver.

  2. Step 2

Click on the "File" menu option and choose "Save As." Once the "Save As" menu opens, drag your selection to a picture file (.gif, .jpeg or .png).

  3. Step 3

Save the file to your "My Pictures" folder. Click "yes" when asked if you want to export all of the slides to the desired location.

  4. Step 4

    Close the PowerPoint presentation.

  5. Step 5

Open the Control Panel from the Start menu and chose "Appearance and Themes" from the list of options. Click on the "Screen saver" tab.

  6. Step 6

Click on the screensaver drop down menu and chose the "My Pictures Slideshow" option.

  7. Step 7

Click on "Preview" and watch the screen saver you just created. If you're satisfied, chose to apply the changes you've made. You've just created a custom screen saver using PowerPoint.

Tips & Warnings
  • All pictures in "My Pictures" show during a slide show. If you want to only show those from the PowerPoint presentation you should create a new folder within "My Pictures" for the PowerPoint files. You can select individual folders during Step 6 by clicking on the "Settings" Tab, choosing "Browse" and then choosing the folder you want.
