Wet toilet seats aren't fun for anyone. As well as being unsightly, they can also harbor bacteria from previous users. Follow these tips to eliminate a wet toilet seat for yourself and be courteous to other ladies who use the restroom.

Dry off wet toilet seats. Use clean toilet tissue to wipe the wetness away. If necessary, wipe the seat with a new wad of toilet paper until dry. Throw the used toilet tissue into the bowl and flush. If you have some antibacterial wipes or gel on hand, give the toilet seat a quick wipe to take care of remaining germs.

Unroll pieces of toilet paper from the roll. Lay the paper all along the sides of the toilet seat. Cover all sides of the toilet seat so you sit on the paper, and your bottom doesn't touch the seat. You could also use provided toilet seat covers or packaged covers you carry in your purse.

Sit on the paper covered seat instead of squatting. Although squatting may be tempting, it's not necessary unless no tissue remains in the stall. Squatting often leaves wet toilet seats for other people.

Dispose of the toilet paper when you're finished using the toilet. Use the tip of your shoe to guide the toilet paper into the toilet or a neighboring trash can.

Wipe the seat again if you notice any moisture after you've flushed.

Pick up after children. Their small bodies don't fit well on an adult-sized toilet seat and this may result in a wet seat.

If you must squat, simply lift the toilet seat with clean tissue and squat over the rim, as this leaves the seat dry.
When drying toilet seats, always get a wad of toilet paper thick enough to ensure that the wetness doesn't seep through and touch your hand. Toilet paper in public bathrooms stalls is usually very thin.
Avoid covering the seats of traditional toilets with toilet paper. These toilets can clog after flushing that much toilet paper at once. Dispose of the used toilet seat cover in trash cans to avoid clogging.
