Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Admit that neither evolution nor creationism is an observable science. The proponents, without concrete evidence, must accept their chosen theory by faith. Evolutionary changes supposedly took place over great periods of time, so they are not observable or repeatable in a lab.
Step2
Know the difference between micro-evolution and macro-evolution. Micro-evolution involves minor changes within a species; macro-evolution refers to one species evolving into another distinct species. Charles Darwin, the main advocate of evolutionary theory, bred pigeons for years to produce variations within the species, but never turned a pigeon into a cat, for instance.
Step3
Point out there have been no transitional fossils, those of one species in the process of becoming another species, that have been discovered. There should be thousands of these fossils according to the theory of evolution, because this process would have taken many years.
Step4
Explain the second law of thermodynamics, entropy, and that it shows everything in our physical universe to be decaying, not progressing. Evolution supposes that lower forms of life evolved into more complex forms of life.
Step5
Ask the evolutionist to explain why, if life forms are progressing from simple to complex, as the theory of evolution proposes, so many species are becoming extinct. At the same time, there are no new species found.
Step6
Demonstrate that proteins and acids, the building blocks of life and the components of every living cell, work against each other in the natural world. Marinate a piece of steak in vinegar and it begins to disintegrate. Ask how these two substances could come together by accident to create life, as we know it, without the aid of an intelligent creator.
