How to Block a Contact on MSN Messenger
MSN Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger, is a great way to stay in touch with people. However, if you decide you don't want to talk to a particular contact again you can block them. Blocking a contact is simple, quick and allows you to avoid unwanted contact on MSN Messenger.

Log into your MSN account. The easiest way to do this is to double-click on the MSN Messenger icon on your desktop.

Look through your contacts list to locate the user name of the person you wish to block.

Right click on the contact and select "Block" from the drop-down menu. Similarly, you can also block a contact by using the drop-down contact menu and selecting "Block."

Decide if you want to remove your ability to contact the person you just blocked. Remove the contact by right clicking on the contact and selecting "Delete Contact." Now the contact can't contact you and you no longer have them in your contacts list.

Click on "Privacy Settings" if you find a lot of people you don't know are contacting you. If you want to restrict messaging and other contact to only the people on you contact list, change your privacy settings. Select "Tools," then "Options," "Privacy" and select "All Others" and then select "Block." You have now blocked anyone not on your contact list from being able to contact you.

Tips & Warnings
Deleting a contact does not block a contact. If you wish to block a contact, do so prior to deleting them from your contact list.

Ignoring the fact that a simpleton could have worked that out in the previous MSN version, it doesn't work for MSN 2011. There is no block option, only delete. Which doesn't stop Yahoo contacts sending you messages apparently.
