Square dancing can be a great way to get some exercise and meet new people. A square dance caller is the person who calls out dance sequences and directs the dancers on the dance floor. It can be a great job for someone who is outspoken and comfortable with a microphone.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Rehearse saying square dance figures on a microphone in your basement or any other secluded place. Make sure you do not practice anywhere where people might get annoyed or hear you.
Step2
Talk with other square dance callers how they got their jobs. Ask them about what steps they took to get into the square dancing industry. You might find that many of them were professional square dancers before taking on the new role.
Step3
Ask another caller if you can be a co-caller on a square dancing night. See how you feel about speaking on the microphone and directing a bunch of people. This position will help you know if you are suited for this job or not.
Step4
Make a video of you leading two or three square dancers. Ask your friends to help you out and get a group together. Pick some music and start saying square dance moves.
Step5
Send in the demo video to square dancing bars and clubs in your area or elsewhere. This video will act as your resume, so make sure to put all of your contact details in the package so owners can easily contact you.
