Removing the wooden inserts in your kitchen cabinet doors and replacing them with glass gives you an updated look with a minimal financial investment. You'll increase the value of your home while giving your kitchen a facelift.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure the inside of each cabinet door where you want to add glass insets and take these measurements with you when you purchase the glass. You can have the glass panels cut to to fit each door.

  2. Step 2

Remove the doors from the cabinets. Label them on the inside so you know where they go when it's time to put them back.

  3. Step 3

Use a saw to cut out the wooden inset, making sure not to damage the framework of the door.

  4. Step 4

Lay the door face down on a flat surface and set the glass panel into place.

  5. Step 5

Secure the glass to the cabinet using glazing tips. If you're only adding glass panels to a couple of cabinet doors, use a putty knife to push the glazing tips into the wooden door frame. For larger projects, rent a glazing gun to speed up the process.

  6. Step 6

Install a minimum of two glazing tips to the top and bottom, with another four on each side of the door. This will hold the glass securely into place and prevent the glass from rattling around. With glazing tips, you can change or replace the glass on cabinet doors if you need to do so.
