Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Open a new document using either Portrait or Landscape orientation. Write "Flow Chart on How to Prune Roses" somewhere at the top.
Step2
Insert a chart legend. Decide on symbols to depict the following items: Begin Project, End Project, Task, Decision and Direction.
Step3
Start at the top with the decision about when to prune roses. Add choices about whether to wait until the last frost is gone or to start automatically at the beginning of spring.
Step4
Describe preparatory steps. Advise gardeners to use sharp pruning shears and protect themselves with long, thick gardening gloves. Insert a step advising them to begin pruning at the base of the plant.
Step5
Continue with instructions to estimate the size of canes on the roses. Add a step instructing gardeners to use sharp-bladed saws for thicker canes. Suggest they cut the cane at a 45-degree angle at the top.
Step6
Add one step suggesting gardeners remove dead wood to prune roses. Insert an additional step instructing them to discard disfigured shoots.
Step7
Specify at the end of the chart whether to remove or cut rubbing branches. Finish the chart with a final step instructing gardeners to fertilize new sprouts.
