Step 1
Learn about the four subdivisions of the tide pools. Each ecosystem is exposed to different conditions. They also provide homes to different animal and plant species.
-
Step 2
Visit a tide pool or complete a virtual tour to become more familiar with the different species (see Resources).
-
Step 3
Pick one animal or plant from a tidal zone and explore it in depth by collecting data and analyzing results.
-
Step 4
Complete a report about your findings. Include species description, its place in the food chain and which subdivision it calls home. Draw a picture or make a model of your species to complete the report.
-
Step 5
Present your findings. Share your report with your class or create a multi-media presentation.
-
Step 6
Extend your findings with a creative project. Separate into teams based on the tide pool zone of your species. Work together with your team to create a story or a display of the plants and animals that live in that region.
