During every Olympics, betting on the events becomes popular with sports gamblers. Track and field events are no exception, particularly since many of the events feature more well-known figures than some of the other summer events. If you think you know who the winner will be, place a little money on the event and make it more interesting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know the betting rules in your location. Sports betting is not legal in all areas so check to see where you can place a bet on one of the track and field events. In the United States, you may need to travel to betting sites like Las Vegas to put down your money as online betting is illegal in many areas.

  2. Step 2

Use a reputable betting site if you bet online. Some countries allow online sports betting, but you want to make sure that you'll be getting your money if you win. Check out the site and its reputation before sending in your money on the bet.

  3. Step 3

Decide on the track and field events that you want to bet on. In most cases, you'll be able to place a bet for the overall winner of the event or for the country who wins the most track and field gold medals. Make sure that you know winning bets will be determined before placing your bet.

  4. Step 4

Research the athletes that you want to bet on. Depending on how the bet is set up, you'll want to see how they've performed in the past, any injuries that they might have and what condition they are in for the Olympics.

  5. Step 5

Know the odds for the bet that you'll be placing. This can help you determine which events and participants you should bet on.

  6. Step 6

Watch the Olympic track and field events and see how you do. If you win, make sure to collect your bets.
