Anti-King Chess is played in the same way as Anti-Chess except for the addition of anther King, called the Anti-King. This Anti-King must be kept in check throughout the entire game or you lose the game. Here's how to play this fun variation on the traditional chess game.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Chessboard with pieces
  • An additional white and black King
  1. Step 1

Set up the chessboard just as you would in regular chess except add an additional King to each side of the board. These Anti-Kings should be placed in front of the pawn that is in front of the Queen on each side. The white Anti-King should be on the black side of the board and the black Anti-King on the white side of the board.

  2. Step 2

Start the game if you are the white pieces. Move your pieces as you would in a normal game of chess.

  3. Step 3

Capture pieces as you move your pieces around on the board. The Anti-King cannot be captured by any other piece in this game, nor can it capture a King.

  4. Step 4

Lose the game if your Anti-King is not in check at the end of your turn or if your regular King is in Checkmate.

  5. Step 5

Win the game if you checkmate your opponent's King or if your opponent fails to keep his Anti-King in check. You can also win if all your pieces are taken except for the King, the Anti-King and another piece. If your last piece is taken, it would make your opponent's Anti-King fall out of check because it cannot be captured by your opponent's King or Anti-King.

Tips & Warnings
  • When a Pawn reaches the last row on the opponent's side of the board it must turn into the Queen in this game. Since there is only one Queen, if you have more than one Pawn reach the other side, you can only switch out the one.
  • You must capture your opponent's piece if you are in a position to do so.
