Use Onlywire To Promote Your Websites and Articles

Onlywire is a wonderful free service where you can submit your website address (including your articles, blogs, etc) to various social networking sites in order to garnish you more traffic. Follow these easy steps if you find the tutorial on the site itself a bit daunting. It's not hard, honest.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Website, blog or articles to promote
  1. Step 1

    Log on to www.onlywire.com

  2. Step 2

    Click 'Start Using It Now'

  3. Step 3

Fill in your information and click 'Create My Account'.

  4. Step 4

Follow steps to get logged in.

  5. Step 5
    Setting up your Onlywire Service

    Setting up your Onlywire Service

The page you see when you log in will look like the photo to the left. Before you can use this page, you will need to register and log in at each site listed to the left of the blanks. Click the names (1st one is circled for you in this photo to show where to click) and it will take you directly to that page. *Don't worry, this will open up in a new window, which you can close when done registering/logging in. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ONE TIME, DON'T WORRY. IT'S WORTH THE TIME YOU WILL SPEND HERE.

  6. Step 6

Fill in your username and passwords for each service as you go so you don't forget. Also write them down or save them to a Word document.

  7. Step 7
save social bookmarking log in information

save social bookmarking log in information

    Click 'Save my Logins'

  8. Step 8

Drag one of the 'Save Page' links at the top of the page to the toolbar where it says 'bookmarks' or 'favorites' depending on your browser. You can choose between the frames or non frames version. I prefer the frames (shown to the left in the photo with the X next to it) as it's easier to tell what my success rate is when submitting. (i.e. you can better watch the action)

  9. Step 9

Open a new window and go to your website or article.

  10. Step 10

Click your bookmarks/favorites tab on your tool bar and choose the 'Save Page' link. Below your screen you will see a message saying 'waiting for www.onlywire.com' as shown in the photo to the left here. (on my personal website www.ironwoodkennel.com btw) ;-) Feel free to practice onlywire there. *wink*

  11. Step 11

A new window will shortly pop up that looks like the image to the left. The tile and url should already be pre-filled in for you. It will take the title from the coding of your website. If this just says something dumb like "welcome" or something that is not descriptive, you will need to type in something better (and discuss this with your webmaster as it's a vital ingredient to ranking well).

  12. Step 12

The next blanks says (space separate) Tags: Insert as many relevant tags here as possible in space separated form. See my other article "How To Optimize Your Articles For The Search Engines" for more detailed direction on this. (link at bottom of this page)

  13. Step 13

Do NOT check the set to private box. This is only for those who want to bookmark for themselves and not John Q Public. That would defeat our purpose here.

  14. Step 14

Next blank says Clipping / Comments / Notes: This is where you will add your description. Make it enticing and insert your main keywords. This is what people will see when they are trying to decide on whether or not they should click on your link and visit your page.

  15. Step 15

Where it says Post To: be sure all boxes are checked, which they should be by default.

  16. Step 16

    Click the Bookmark Page link

  17. Step 17

The Bookmark Page button will be faded and now say Saving... then it will pop over to the page you were bookmarking once again. This means you're done! Now go repeat the process for other pages only this time, it will be faster and eventually turn to a quick habit for you that will reap huge rewards in traffic. 18. Step 18
