How to Add to a Resume to Apply for a Work From Home Job
Working at home is a goal for many people. For every real work at home job opening there are always thousands more applicants. If you really want to work at home as an employee you must raise above the competition. One way to do this is to form your resume to adjust to a work from home job.

1
Keep your resume neat and simple. Do not spend time making the format fancy. Most if not all your resumes for a work at home job will be sent by email. (Make sure you email address is appropriate, hotmomma@hotmail.com will not work here.) Many resumes are sent by cut and paste not by attachment, so if your format is not plain your end result will not be desirable.

2
Rethink adding a objective. In most cases they are not needed. Everything you need to cover, usually can be done in a cover letter. If you decide to keep your objective, focus on what you can do for the company not what it can do for you. A objective is only needed if you are seeking a job that is completely unrelated to the jobs you have had previously.

3
Double check your dates of employment and any form of educational certificates or degrees. Most employers that hire employees to telecommute hire company's to investigate the potential employee. If your resume shows up as having false information rather it was intended or not, most likely they will just more on to another applicant. The employer will also be likely to pass up your resume if you do not show all dates for past employment and education.
-
4
Write a paragraph or two to take place of what you would usually would use as a cover letter. I addition to your normal cover letter you want be detailed in what position you are seeking. If you are not applying for a position that was advertised as a telecommuting job be very careful in your wording. I also strongly recommend the word telecommuting over the phrase work from home. Do not try to do any fancy wording here. Be short and to the point. Also remember to add any information the employer requested before. (Many employers request a salary history or salary requirements. Do not skip this.)

5
Proof read. After resume is completed, send it to yourself and wait at least a few hours to read it. Then go back see if there is any reformatting issues and read for errors. This will allow you to have a fresh outlook on your resume.
