Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Hair cut
- Doo-rag or wave cap
Step1
Cut your hair. The longer the length, the harder it is to see the wave patterns in African-American hair. Instead, opt for a fade hairstyle or a low cut.
Step2
Find a proper wave brush. Soft-bristled brushes are better for fresher cuts. Brush your hair as least twice a day to train your hair into a fixed position.
Step3
Apply wave grease to emphasize your natural wave pattern. Do not turn to a chemical process as this destroys your natural pattern. Instead apply wave grease and continue to brush your hair.
Step4
Wrap your hair up nightly with a wave cap or doo rag. Keeping your hair in one place for a long time will highlight your natural wave pattern.
Step5
Maintain your hairstyle. Remember to get a fresh hair cut at least bi-monthly. Repeat steps 2 through 4 on a nightly basis.
