In XP we could only use the prtscn (print screen) function to capture the entire desktop area. In certain Vista editions you can use the new Snipping Tool to capture any small area of the screen.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
once the Snipping Tool is activated it will be available on the taskbar for future use
Step2
click the start button
Step3
in the search area enter "snipping" (without the quotes and press enter)
Step4
the snipping tool now appears in the taskbar

Tips & Warnings

  • don't expect to copy images for use as web images. The image captured by the snipping tool will degrade when copied.
