Everyday people get along with each other and work collaborate with one another. Not everyone is right in the situation, and our parents are no exceptions, even when we have our conflicts with them.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • notebook
  • proof
  • emotion/logic
  • Calm and polite attitude!

Step1
Have some proof for everything you do. As long as you can show that you are doing what needs to be done, and you can show that there are good reasons for your actions, that alone should help you through your arguments between parents! Have a notebook with you for what you did through out your day as well to help you remember what you did or what you are planning to do.
Step2
Being able to obtain and show proof is only half the battle in an argument between you and your parent. Having a calm, respectful attitude will first show that you are not trying to lie. They say that those who are loudest are the guilty! (not always the case). Second off, the argument will not escalate if you keep things calm. NO ONE likes a person who is willing to have a battle between one another.
Step3
Need to confirm your proof? Talk to your peers, or rather yet, have them talk to your parents. Having another person with you who has a good idea of what your doing will further convince that what you are doing is the right thing.
Step4
Can't settle your arguments? Go to a counselor! Having a counselor may help you and your parent agree to disagree, or help you and your parent see what's best for the situation at hand! However, it is not guaranteed that you will win the argument!

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember when I mentioned using a notebook? Also use it for what you could do to improve your arguments, or how you deal with them. Using this type of thing as a future reference could save you a lot of trouble in the future!
  • Proof is important! Don't hesitate to show it!
  • WARNING: Yelling, slamming, any form of aggressiveness may lead to a serious fight. TRY NOT to do this!
