How to Color Your Own Flowers
Why buy colored flowers when you can color them yourself? You can customize your flowers to go with any decor and for any special occasion. Have green carnations for St. Patrick's Day or varied pastels for Easter. You can even have more than one color on each flower! Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Food coloring
- vases, glasses or even glass vials
- White or light colored flowers such as roses, carnations or tulips.

Visit your florist for some white or light colored flowers. Carnations and roses work best but feel free to experiment with tulips or even daffodils.

Cut the stems diagonally at the tips to ensure a fresh cut so water will be taken up easier.

Fill your vases or other container with water.

Add the desired amount of food coloring. It will take quit a bit so don't be shy.

Place flowers into desired colored water.

Keep an eye on the flowers and remove once the desired color effect is reached. You may want just the tips to have the new color or maybe you want solid color.

Put flowers into fresh water vase and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
Experiment with the food color dyes. Create new colors for fun.
If you split the flower stem lengthwise a bit, you can even color the flower with two different colors but putting each stem section in a different colored water container.
