Are the coils of your dehumidifier covered in frost? There is a couple of reasons for this. Either you have restricted airflow, your coils are dirty or you room temperature is below 65 degrees. In any case, you'll want to take care of this issue right away.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • vacuum
  1. Step 1

Keep your dehumidifier away from any walls or other surfaces which may restrict the airflow. If this isn't the case, you probably need to clean the coils.

  2. Step 2

To clean the coils: unplug the dehumidifier, remove the outer casing and allow the frost to evaporate naturally.

  3. Step 3

You can also vacuum the coils to remove that nasty dust buildup. Can be an issue particularly in homes with pet hair or bird dander to deal with. If you need to, a soft bristled brush may help loosen the buildup on the coils.
