Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Windows XP (you can do this with other operating systems but the pop up windows, etc may be a bit different)
  • Blank CD's (get re-writables so you can back up more often for less $$.
Step1
Place a blank CD into your CD-ROM drive.
Step2
Click the CD drive under 'My Computer' folder.
Step3
A blank window will open. This will tell you how much space is left on the CD. Keep this window open.
Step4
Open a new window and browse to the files you wish to back up.
Step5
Once the file or folder is highlighted, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and select any other files there you wish to also back up. This will highlight all the files you clicked.
Step6
Drag them onto the CD until you're done or the CD won't hold more data.
Step7
Once you've copied all the files you want on the CD click "write these files to CD".
Step8
Continue to do this until all your important files are backed up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Label your CD's, not only with what is on them but the date that you burned the CD.
