How to make recycled paper

A 'fun to do project' for you and your child(ren).

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• 3 facial tissues
• Hot water
• Bowl
• Large spoon
• Square baking pan
• Rolling Pin
• Newspaper
• 1/4 cup of liquid starch
• Wire screening-edges folded to fit pan
• Dishtowel

1. Tear up pieces of tissues in small pieces the size of stamps. Drop them into a bowl and add a cup of hot water.
2. Stir and beat the mixture until it becomes smooth.
3. Stir your liquid starch into the pan. Then stir your mixture into the pan as well.
4. Dip the screen into the pan-sliding it under the slurry. Move the screen around to get a thin and even layer on top of it. (Use your fingers to distribute)
5. Lift the screen straight up out of the pan and allow water to drain off.
6. Lay the screen between thick pages of old newspapers. (This is where you will roll out your excess water)
7. Turn the screen over and gently lift your paper off the newspaper.
8. Let your paper dry flat on a dish towel for a couple of days.
