How to check your car battery without a meter

to check if your car battery is discharged or faulty .first switch on your interior light . then turn your key to start your engine .note the interior light if it goes dim. this is a sure sign the battery is either discharged or faulty. note also could be slack or dirty connections on battery terminals or earth terminal connection to car body from battery negative connection.

Step1
sit inside car in driver seat select neutral gear.
Step2
switch on interior light.
Step3
note if light is bright ,try to start engine at same time note if light goes dim. if it does this is a sure sign the battery is either discharged or faulty.

Tips & Warnings

  • try to charge battery off the car .also check and clean terminals with emery cloth, also battery earth connections are clean and tight.
  • if not sure consult an auto electrician.
