How to Make a Cheesesteak

If you have ever been to the Philadelphia region chances are you have had or have heard of a Philly Cheesesteak. A good Philly Cheesesteak is like nothing you have ever eaten. Making one at home is never going to be the same as getting one straight off the griddle, but it is good enough if you can't get a good cheesesteak locally.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cheese Wiz or Deli Sliced American
  • Minute Steaks
  • Onion
  • Oil
  • Long Sandwich Roll
  1. Step 1

    Let your frying pan warm to medium heat with a small amount of oil in it to prevent burning and sticking.

  2. Step 2

    Chop you onion into desired sized pieces. Dicing the onion in chunks is usually preferred.

  3. Step 3

    Place the onions in the frying pan in a pile. Let them cook for a few minutes until they are soft.

  4. Step 4

    Put the minutes steaks in the frying pan whole and let them cook and they start to change color. Once they have softened and started to change color, use your spatula to chop up the minute steak into pieces or slivers of meat.

  5. Step 5

    After the meat is light brown all over mix together the onions and the minute steak pieces and allow them to cook together for a few minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Once your meat is cooked completely, if your using American cheese place a few slices on the top of the meat and onion pile in the frying pan.

  7. Step 7

    Let the cheese melt and the carefully lift the pile out and place it on your long roll.

  8. Step 8

    If you are using wiz, skip step six and just lift out the meat and onions and place them on your long roll. Take a wooden spatula and scoop out some wiz from the cheez wiz jar. spread the wiz on top by pulling the wooden spatula through the closed long roll.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you like extra cheese put cheese on the roll prior to placing the finished steak and onions on the roll. Still add your cheese to the top as well.
