Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Steamer
- Frying pan
- Seabass (descaled and inside taken out)
- Kitchen knife
- Olive oil
- Ginger, scallion(green onion), garlic
- Sea salt, soy sauce
Step1
Slice both sides of the sea bass horizontally a few times. This helps to reduce cook time and helps the taste go in.
Step2
Cut 3 stalks of scallion into 1-inch lengths, slice 15-25 slices of ginger depending on the size of your fish(ginger helps to take away the fishy smell, so make sure there's enough) and chop 5 cloves of garlic.
Step3
Put the fish in a bowl or plate that would fit in your steamer, rub sea salt on both sides of the sea bass, then put all of the ginger and half the scallion on top of the fish.
Step4
Steam the fish for 10 minutes or until cooked. Usually when the meat is tender, it's already cooked, though you may let it steam another 5-10 minutes to reach your desired texture. Take the plate out of the steamer. (If you used a bowl for steaming, transfer the fish to a plate. This would make it easier to pick the meat when consuming the fish.)
Step5
In a frying pan, put in one tablespoon of olive oil. When hot, add the rest of the scallion and all of the garlic, stir for 30 seconds. Turn off the stove, pour all including the oil in the frying pan on top of the fish. Add 2 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce. Viola!
