Is money running thin this week? Do you need a inexpensive, cheap way to feed your family for a night? Guaranteed they will LOVE this! I prefer to use oatmeal, but bread crumbs works just as well. So easy to make. I tend to burn water, but can make these with ease.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup warm tap water
  • 1/3 cup dry oatmeal or bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Step1
* Place the raw hamburger in a bowl.
Step2
* Add the water, oatmeal, onion, garlic, salt and pepper.
Step3
* Use your hands to mix and mash the stuff all together until everything is blended evenly.
Step4
* Shape the mixture into patties with your hands.
Step5
* Make four large patties or 6 smaller ones.
Step6
* Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat for a couple of minutes.
Step7
* Place the patties onto the dry preheated skillet.
Step8
* Sear them on one side, cooking until they are a nice dark brown.
Step9
* Then flip them over with a pancake turner and turn down the heat to medium low.
Step10
* Cover the pan with a lid or a pizza pan.
Step11
* Allow the burgers to cook slowly for at least ten minutes.
Step12
* Turn them over again, recover and cook for five more minutes.
Step13
* They should be a lovely crusty brown on the outside, and gray colored inside, all the way through to the center.
Step14
* Drain the burgers on paper towels or brown paper bags for a moment or two before serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • These can be served on buns with all the normal burger fixing. However, they are equally good plain, as individual meat loaves. Serves 4.
  • Great with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, etc.
