This is a wonderfully sweet candy and a old southern tradition.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 tbl. of Mashed Potatos
  • 1lb. Confectionary Surgar
  • Chunky Butter
  • Peanut Butter
  • Wax Paper
  1. Step 1

    This is so easy and requires no cooking if you use left over mashed potatoes from dinner. Your children will love making this. We add a splash of green and red food coloring to make it look festive.

  2. Step 2

    1. Mix mashed potato and confectionary. sugar in a bowl until if forms a soft ball.
    2. Put the dough on a sheet of wax paper and roll it flat with your rolling pin.

  3. Step 3

    3. Spread chunky peanut butter over the whole top
    4. Use the wax paper to help you roll the candy up in a long tube.
    5. refrigerate for about 2 hours and cut into 1/2" sections.

Tips & Warnings
  • We like to add coconut, banana, and maple flavor but you can make this to meet your taste.
  • This candy is very sweet

on 8/2/2008 Thanks for this recipe.I've been trying to find it for 40 yrs. My mother died when I was 10 and I remember how goo her potato candy was, but never could find anyone else who ever heard of it. Can't wait to fix it.TERRIEMAE
