Friendships are one of the coolest relationships you can have, as long as the friendship is genuine. Hugging a friend is one of the best ways to show how much you value them, as long as the hug is genuine.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Friend
  • Genuine adoration
  • Firm, not squishy, embrace
Step1
Tell your friend you wish to hug them. “Hey, friend, gimme a hug!”
Step2
Place your arms firmly around the friend’s shoulders and give a little squeeze with your arms.
Step3
Think of how much you like this person, rather than the hug technique, and the hug will feel natural and genuine.
Step4
Top off the hug with a quick “pat pat” on the friend’s back. This is a cute way to say “I like you” while also signaling the hug is over.

Tips & Warnings

  • Not all friends like hugs. Make sure the person is OK with a hug or it may be like torture for them.
  • Don’t be fake about it, like those “air kisses” people give. Give a real hug.
  • Don’t smush your body into theirs; that’s just weird for friendship hugs.
  • Make sure the friend is someone you really want to hug, and not hug some guy who is calling himself your friend just to cop a feel.
