Things You'll Need:
- Eggs
- Food Coloring
- White Vinegar
- Deep Bowl or Cup
- Tongs or Wire Egg Scoop
- Drying rack
-
Step 1
Hard boil eggs and let cool completely, preferably in the fridge over night.
-
Step 2
Use newspaper to cover counter or table top where you will be working. This prevents staining of surfaces and helps with clean up.
-
Step 3
Set out your bowls or cups and fill them with about 1/2 cup of very hot water. Add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and approximately 20 drops of food coloring (use more coloring for darker colors). Don't be afraid to combine colors to create different shades.
-
Step 4
Submerge egg completely in coloring and let it soak for about 5 minutes to achieve a light pastel shade. For deeper colors, leave eggs in the dye for 10 minutes or longer.
-
Step 5
Remove egg from coloring using tongs and transfer to drying rack. Let dry for at least 15-20 minutes before putting the eggs back into the carton.
