Things You'll Need:
- Blue butcher paper
- Scissors
- Textured scrapbook paper, large sheets
- Flower garland (craft store)
- Stapler
- Yellow construction paper
- Black and brown permanent markers
- Computer/printer access/white paper
- Glue
-
Step 1
Measure out blue butcher paper that will fit your entire bulletin board area. Staple the paper to the bulletin board as your background.
-
Step 2
Create a sign for your bulletin board using 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper that is placed on the landscape setting in MS Word. You can use Word Art to make fancy letters, or use the fonts available in the program. A sign might say, "Look What's Blooming in Mrs. _______'s Class." Staple the sign somewhere prominent on the board.
-
Step 3
Create large vases using scrapbook paper. Use vibrant and textured designs for the vases to make the bulletin board lively and fun. Cut out the vases and staple them to the bulletin board. Do not staple the top of the vases, as flowers will go into those spaces later.
-
Step 4
Cut out flower designs with yellow construction paper. Make pedals by adding a circle in the center of each flower (big enough for a child's picture to fit) and adding lines using permanent markers. See the picture above for an example.
-
Step 5
Ask each student to bring in a picture of themselves from home. Hand out one flower to each child. Have the students glue their picture to the center of their flower. Let them dry.
-
Step 6
Cut out yellow stems (or use green, if you prefer) from construction paper. Staple each flower to a stem. Place the stems into the vases, which are stapled to the bulletin board. Place one staple in each flower to affix it to the bulletin board.
-
Step 7
Hang a flower garland around the bulletin board. Staple parts of it to the bulletin board to make sure it stays up. Add other touches that you feel are necessary for your bulletin board. You are done.
