With the glut of reality television shows over the past few years, watching television has become a less interesting pastime. Her are a few suggestions about how to stay in the cultural loop with out being a couch potato.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Newspaper
  • DVDs
  • Internet connection
  • Computer or video projector
  • Radio

Step1
Subscribe to the newspaper. You’ll have no need for CNN if you read the news daily. Don’t have time to read? Tune into your local NPR station (National Public Radio) or peruse news headlines on the internet.
Step2
Open a YouTube account. You can generally catch highlights of important news and entertainment items on YouTube.
Step3
Know that most computers have DVD drives and the monitor can double as a TV screen. If you have a laptop you can even watch movies in bed.
Step4
Purchase a video projector and get a Netflix account. I hook my projector up to my computer’s DVD drive. Watching movies has been so much more fun since I got rid of my television.
