Rate: (3 Ratings)

Create instantly stylish walls using mural transfers! It's very easy and looks just like a professional custom hand painted mural for a fraction of the cost.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mural Transfer
  • Rub-on applicator (comes with kit)
  • Painters tape
  • Scissors
  • A level (sometimes needed)
  • A pencil
Step1
Choose your design Search for mural transfers online. The ones you are looking for will describe the mural transfers as "paint thin" mural transfers or wall transfers. You want to steer clear of "repositionable" murals as they are more of a sticker. Decide on a mural. It should arrive at your doorstep within a week.
Step2
Position on wall... The fun begins! Open the package and read any directions that give tips on the design you have chosen. Cut apart design elements, leaving the backing paper in place and tape the elements onto the wall to decide on position.
Step3
Remove backing paper When you have the mural where you want it, remove the backing paper and smooth onto the wall from the center out. Remove any tape as it will lightly stick to the wall once the backing paper is removed.
Step4
Rub design onto wall! Starting at a corner, use the applicator to rub the design onto the wall. Pay extra attention to the edges and start to remove transfer paper as you go. If any part does not entirely rub down, just place back down on wall and re-rub before you remove the entire transfer sheet. That is all there is to it! Smooth the design using your palm to make sure it has good contact with your wall...voila, instant mural design that looks hand painted for a fraction of the cost of a custom mural!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you ever want to redecorate, simply paint over the mural.
  • Remove transfer paper slowly and rub carefully
  • Any little bubbles can be smoothed out with the palm of your hand
  • You can use these transfers on walls, ceilings, furniture, floors and glass!
  • Seal the mural in high traffic areas with non-yellowing acrylic spray if you want extra protection, but it is not necessary in most cases
