A dump cake is a great recipe for when you only have a few minutes to throw a cake together. It is also a fun dessert that your children will love to help make.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 can of Cherry Pie Filling (21 oz)
  • 1 can of crushed Pineapple (20 oz)
  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup of melted margarine/butter
  1. Step 1

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    2. Spread Cherry Pie filling and crushed pineapple into the bottom of a large baking dish. (Do not drain liquids from can.)

  3. Step 3

    3. Pour package of dry cake mix over top of your fruit. Do not mix cake mix according to the package instructions. Just pour the dry mix itself onto the fruit.

  4. Step 4

    4. Pour melted butter or margarine over top of the cake mix. Dry and make sure that you evenly pour the butter over as much of the dry cake mix as possible.

  5. Step 5

    5. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cake mix comes out clean. Scoop and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can substitute different fruit pie fillings and crushed fruit for different flavors.
  • You can also substitute different flavor cake mixes for additional variety.

on 4/2/2008 I think I remember my friend making something like this when we were teenagers (a zillion years ago). I am going to try this with MY teenager. Thank you for this article.
