Things You'll Need:
- Internet connection.
- Personal computer.
- Expertise in a subject.
-
Step 1
Identify your subject area of expertise. Expertise areas are range from anything from law, health care, employment, or specific hobbies. This should be a area that you have knowledge in and feel comfortable writing about. The more specialized and useful your knowledge the more your expertize will be worth. A degree or Certificate in your subject area is best but not necessary.
-
Step 2
Research areas that hire guides. The most common resources for a online guide is About.com and JustAnswer.com. Each business requires different pre-requisites and time requirements. You should look over each website and determine if you are willing to meet the time requirement they may demand.
-
Step 3
Refresh your resume: Gear you resume toward the job as a Guide. Focus on the job tasks or hobbies you participate in that are in your interest area. Do not embellish or fabricate your previous jobs but focus on the tasks that you have done that will help you be a great guide. Even if your position does not require a resume this will help you feel out the application appropriately.
-
Step 4
Apply for the guide positions. You may want to apply for all three to keep your options open or just apply for your favorite. Remember it may take a few months to get approved. So keep any eye open for a email.
