Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Piece of paper
- Pencil or pen
- Clean hair
Step1
On your piece of paper write out the areas you wish to analyze.
Step2
Texture of the hair is measured in fine, medium or coarse. The diameter of the hair is what determines this. Hints- fine hair feels soft, coarse hair usually a bit more texture to it.
Step3
Condition in this situation will be measured in poor good, or great. Are the ends of the hair shiny, silky & smooth without any dryness? If yes your hair is in good to great condition. If the ends are dry brittle and fuzzy then your hair condition is poor.
Step4
Elasticity is your hair’s ability to stretch and return to it’s originally shape, like a rubber band. Well just like a rubber band as it dries and looses its elasticity, it cracks and does not return to its original shape as quickly. This can eventually lead to split ends and breakage in the hair if not taken care of. While hair is attached to your head wrap a strand (1 strand) around your finger, if it creates a crease in your finger without breaking great. If it breaks without much tension this is not go.
Step5
Thickness is okay how thick or thin the hair is. When your hair lays flat against your head is it really flat? This may be thin hair. Is the hair really full when it lays flat against the head? This may be thick hair. Another way to tell is to feel the hair close to the root area, does it feel thick?
Step6
Length, today we are going to measure it in Short- hair at least 1” above the shoulders, Medium- hair touches the shoulder but is not much longer than shoulders, and Long- hair that is below the shoulders.
Step7
Color- do you fit into which category- Redheads, Brunettes, or Blondes?
Step8
Now that you have this information you can move into the other how to’s I have written that will explain how each area affects you and your daily styling.
