Lets face it, being a single mom is tough. Picking the right man for your family is tougher.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • time, time and more time
  • and oh yeah, patience
  • God
  • love
  • your kids advice
  1. Step 1

When meeting a man for the first time, be honest about your homelife. Explain to him that you have children. Dont assume he is "the one" right away.

  2. Step 2

After you have dated this man for a while let him meet your children. (after a background check of course). Listen to your children and watch how he reacts to them.

  3. Step 3

Ask your children their honest opinion. Believe it or not unless you have very young children, they will know who is best for their mom. If your kids "hate" the man you are seeing, guess what? There is probably a very good reason for this.

  4. Step 4

Be patient with both your children and your man. Dont expect instant sparks, wait it out. And please, dont let your children call every man you date "uncle".

on 6/30/2008 I think that a woman can do both. That is completely normal to want to be a great mother as well as have your own desires to have a love interest met. Plain and simple ~ moms are humans too.

on 3/22/2008 Well crazy ace a lot of single moms date and have found my article helpful, its a shame you did not. I met an amazing man who adopted my children and we are a very happy family and this actually happens a lot. To say that single moms have to stay single is silly. Obviously our children are our first priority, but there is nothing wrong with having a life too.
